Bio: MELISSA SHEMANNA

is a visionary artist, curator, and founder of The Honeybee Temple Arts Foundation, with over two decades of experience in the arts. Her practice began with a self-taught discipline in painting and drawing, which evolved through mentorships with artists from the lineage of Ernst Fuchs, a prominent figure in Vienna's visionary and surrealist arts scene. Shemanna's art is a profound exploration of human intelligence, expressed through a synthesis of organic forms, futuristic technology, and hyper-color lenses, all presented with a visionary edge. She works primarily with oils and egg tempera, and often uses high chroma acrylics, pure pigments, ochres, and graphite to push the boundaries of traditional mediums. In 2018, Shemanna founded The Honeybee Temple Arts Foundation as a mycelium network to innovate multidimensional creativity in local and global communities. With a focus on festival arts production, arts festival gallery curation, and sacred arts ceremonies, she is committed to cultivating and empowering multidimensional creativity, both individually and collectively. Shemanna's work has been featured in permanent art collections in Australia, Bali, Hawaii, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, and the USA. She is currently on an international sojourn and art pilgrimage, bringing the last decade of her paintings to Europe and the UK

Bio: IAIN WITTAKER

(Participating artist : Australia)

I do not start out with a map of the work, it is not pre-ordained. Ideas for paintings often lurk around for years as tenuous mind visualisations before they physically unfold, side-track, and slip into the depths. Ludicrous yet convincing images with unexpected undertows are presented, where the fantastic is the only way to approach reality with any clarity - paintings that are confrontational yet with empathetic groundings and a metaphorically autobiographical bent. Not objects for passive consumption that fit comfortably within administrated culture, but lucid psychological spaces formed from an interplay between art and life. Images that feel seductively 'other' and steeped in hallucinatory detail from which the viewer can leap into an intangible, perhaps unexpected, realm of feeling.

(Participating artist :

UK artist now working in Australia

My work is focussed on  study of the Quattrocento period of the Italian Renaissance, especially upon artists such as Andrea Mantegna and Giovanni Bellini, who bridged the hieratic (sacred or religious) with humanistic styles of art. I am fascinated by the esoteric language of symbols as found in ancient art and spiritual lineages, and their application in painting as a visual language that can articulate pictorially the archetypes within dreams and visions, and the historical forces that have shaped the contemporary world.
